Old, old, old mani - and the start of something new

I did this mani in, I believe, June 2009.  It is 4 coats of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape with polka dots in an OPI pink (I think OPI Strawberry Margarita).

Why do I find this mani interesting?

1.  It shows my shortie short nails - and my bizarrely long pinkie.  Why has my pinky always grown so much better than my other nails?

2.  This was a few months after I first discovered polish blogs (and I was completely AMAZED that they existed!!).  I had begun thinking that I may want to post polish on my blog, but didn't think my designs/nails/collection/etc. were good enough.

3.  This was right around the time that I started photographing all my manis (which, eventually, lead to polish blogging).  I started photographing my polish for the Purse Forum thread, titled along the lines of "What polish are you wearing today?"  Seeing all of the pretty polishes at tPF and on the polish blogs I began following made me even more obsessed with polish :)

4.  My polka dotting skills still haven't improved.  (I was the most proud of my pinky nail - the dots looked the best).  But hey, that's what the new Konad polka dot plate is for :)

5.  I find my July 2009 self quite endearing.  Maybe it was due to the fact that I was so proud of my long nails (the pinkies) that I refused to cut them down to match the others.  But I think it really is how crazy-excited I was about this manicure and how I was so happy to show it to my friends on tPF.  I was really proud of it.  I still get that excited when I do a cool mani, like my recent yellow polka dot mani, or the blue clouds mani, or my purple and rhinestones mani that I did to celebrate having 27 followers (I was beyond excited that people were actually interested in reading my blog!! and I still am!).  It is so fun being able to share these manis with friends here on my blog and at tPF. :D

It is funny how a picture can trigger so many memories - even a polish picture!  Have you come across a photo that reminded you of something like a great time,  a fun day, or even a silly joke recently?
Have a nice Thursday!!

I have the same problem! My little finger is streets ahead of the others, growth wise...can't understand it. Anyway, nice dots!
