OPI Texas Collection 2

OPI Texas

Today I have part two of OPI's new Texas Collection.  These six shades are all in OPI's new "sorbet-like" finish, which means that these are what we typically call "jelly-like" instead of creme.  Given the formula, these shades are more sheer than traditional creme polishes, so they give nails a lighter, more summery look than traditional creme polishes.  "Sorbet-like" or jelly polishes tend to dry pretty fast as well, since they apply thinner.  All six of these polishes have that lovely Jolly Rancher-like look (or like squishy Jell-o) that is so lovely on hot, summer days.

Houston We Have a Purple

This is my favorite in the collection.  This lovely berry shade looks great in this sheer, jelly-like formula.  I used three coats to get almost opaque coverage.

Big Hair, Big Nails

This was the most opaque of all of the shades.  Big Hair, Big Nails is a reddish orange polish with the new "sorbet-like" finish.  I used three coats.

Do You Think I'm Tex-y?

Do You Think I'm Tex-y? is a dark pink sheer polish.  It is a really nice color, with hints of purple, and the jelly-like finish makes it look almost like it is fading in a cool, unique way (more pigmented at the tips, sheerer at the base).  I used three coats.  (By the way, I love this name!).

Guy Meets Gal-Veston

This is a peachy orange polish that reminds me a lot of a Dreamsicle (especially given that these have the sorbet-like finish!  It's like summertime desserts in a polish.).  I used two coats and it is still very sheer - like a light wash of color that can be really fun and fresh during the spring and summer.

Too Hot Pink Too Handle

Too Hot Pink Too Handle is a dark pink that is pretty similar to Do You Think I'm Texy?  Like the other five in this color, it is a jelly-based polish, so it gives a sheer wash of color.  I used four coats of this on my toes and got a nearly opaque pedi; for these pictures, I wore just two coats.  I think this is a really pretty pink and it is slightly less red than Do You Think I'm Texy?  I love the name too!!  So cute.

Ya'll Come Back, Ya Hear?

This brings me back to the candy corn nails I did in October.  Ya'll Come Back, Ya Hear? is a pretty orange (more yellow than red) that gives a translucent color with two coats.  As you can see, it looks like a different shade on my tips, almost like a sort of french manicure.

This collection is available now at ULTA and nail salons where OPI is sold.
What do you think of the new "sorbet-like" finish?
Which shades are your favorites?
And my favorite part: which name do you love the most?
Thanks for reading!

I like the other set better but I wouldn't mind getting those if my BF gets it for me or something. Pretty swatches!

I prefer these jellies to the other shimmers!

My fave name: Too Hot Pink Too Handle

I just wish they weren't so sheer. I don't like putting on more than 2 coats.

I recently discovered I love jelly likes but this VNL issue in this collection is really bothering me :(

I like these, but none of them wow me and I prefer last year's Hong Kong collection, so I probably won't be getting any.

The only color I've gotten from this collection is Big Hair...Big Nails. I love all the colors & want to get more of them. BHBN applies pretty thin as you mentioned. My fave name is Houston We Have A Purple but I'm biased there since I love purple! :)
