Spay Day

Today is the 17th annual Spay Day.

Please spay or neuter your pets and become involved with your community to spay and neuter feral cats in your area and help control pet overpopulation.  There are literally thousands of wonderful cats and dogs in animal shelters across the United States waiting for homes.  Please spay or neuter your pets by contacting a local veterinarian.  They may also have information about spay/neuter programs for low income families as well, so see if you qualify.  Additionally, veterinarians oftentimes will offer discounts to help spay/neuter feral cats (as part of the Trap-Neuter-Release program), so if there are feral cats in your area, learn what you can do to help get them spayed/neutered and returned to their outdoor home.  To learn more, visit Alley Cat Allies or search for a feral group near you.

To learn more about the benefits of spaying or neutering your pet, click for the American Humane Society factsheet.  To learn more about Spay Day, visit the Humane Society.

Thank you for helping to control the pet population!
