There was not one but two beautiful bucks in my backyard.  Wish I had been able to get my camera sooner, but at least I got this shot!

Mad Scientist Craft

We made these mad scientist apothecary jars by putting food colored water into two jars, then adding water-resistant lights to the bottom.  I found them in the floral section at Michael's.  Then we put a little piece of dry ice in each (we got it from our local Harris Teeter), and BAM!  Mad scientist!

How awesome are these?

Afternoon light

Isn't late afternoon light awesome?  I took these pictures just as the sun was slipping behind the trees.  Love it!

OPI Green Combo

I wore this combo for a week because I loved the combination of the green with the gold shimmer (hence the small chips).  For the base, I used OPI Jade is the New Black, and then I topped my ring fingers and thumb nails with one coat of the new glimmery, shimmery, gorgeous gold from the China Glaze Safari Collection: I Herd That.

I love how these two look, and it is so nice to get out Jade again - I love that green!

What do you think of the highlight finger trend?  Are you loving it, or are you over it?

Green Mountain State

Prior to our trip to Vermont, my sister stopped by my house to pick out our vacation polishes.  We definitely had a green trend this year, which coupled with the green crops we both purchased at Target the week earlier had us totally blending into the Green Mountain State.

The coolest thing?  One of the shades we took was China Glaze Four Leaf Clover, one of my favorite greens because a) it is gorgeous, and b) I find a TON of 4 leaf clovers.  Four Leaf Clover is a spot-on dupe for the green cropped pants we just got.  Check out Kelsey's nails next to her pants! (you can click on the pictures to make them bigger!)

It's a bit of an oldie now, but have you tried China Glaze Four Leaf Clover?
Also, what is our favorite green polish?

New OPI DS Polishes! Luxurious and Indulgence

OPI DS Luxurious

Neither Luxurious or Indulgence are holographic like many DS polishes are, but the shimmer and glitter that is packed into these polishes make these totally silver-cap worthy.  Luxurious is a glowing orange (although OPI describes it as a red) with loads of foil-flecked shimmery.  It really glows.  All of these images are indoors, with natural sunlight; Luxurious is this brilliant inside!

With 1 coat, it is a deep pink!

OPI DS Indulgence

Indulgence is a shimmery, shiny, sparkly red polish with golden glitter.  All of these pictures are in natural light, and even there look how shimmery it is!  I prefer Indulgence to Luxurious, personally.  This is definitely a shade I will go back to soon.

OPI Germany

Immediately after watching the men's horizontal bar final competitor Fabian Hambuchen compete for Germany, my fiance said, "oh, you got a package in the mail today"  We paused the Olympics, and I tore open the package to discover this fabulous Germany collection.  While Fabian ended up placing second (he was great, but so was Zonderland, who beat him to the gold), this pretty polish collection takes the gold for OPI.  With jewel tones, neutrals, and lots of deep, dark shades, this collection is ready for fall weather - even if I am not!

OPI Germany
Fall 2012

Don't Talk Bach to Me
A very unique greenish mustard with lots of pretty shimmer (the bottle was even swirled with silvery streaks!).

Berlin There Done That
Cute name for this nice dusty lavender creme.

Don't Pretzel My Buttons
Ironically, as I was going through my new polishes, my fiance was heating up a soft pretzel - it was like we were living the Germany collection!  This is an awesome nude creme for my super-fair skin, and I think the name is fun.

Danke-Shiny Red
A pretty shimmery deep red.  I am certain I have a red similar to this, but I own A LOT of great OPI reds (I went on a bit of an OPI red binge when I was a graduate student at the University of Maryland).  It is a really nice red, and it will be perfect for the holidays.  If you've been looking for a great red, this is it.

Every Month is Oktoberfest

Every Month is Oktoberfest
My knowledge of Oktoberfest is basically what I have seen at Busch Gardens (yes, I seriously lack culture), but I've always loved the idea of it.  This unusual polish is rich, deep, and mysterious.  This shade has a dark purple base that is filled with swirls of orange shimmer.  I don't own anything like this, and I think it is pretty cool!

Deutsche You Want Me Baby

Deutsche You Want Me Baby
I don't have many shimmery oranges, and I know that I don't have a single shimmery orange that I like.  I actually kind of like this one - and it might just be because it is the perfect jack o' lantern shade of orange, but I think it looks pretty fun.  Plus, the shimmer is super fine - that's a must for me!

Schnapps Out Of It

Schnapps Out Of It
I have a shirt in this same color - I call it dusty rose.  I love the shirt, but I have a hard time coordinating it with anything other than black.  This polish, on the other hand, coordinates nicely with my skin tone.  I can't see myself wearing this all the time like Kiss Me On My Tulips, for example, but it is a unique shade and it is a pretty dusty rose.  I definitely do not own a dupe to this one.

My Very First Knockwurst
We all know I adore pink soft shades, and this one does not disappoint.  Thankfully, it covers completely with no sheer spots whatsoever.  Yes!

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs

Suzi & the 7 Düsseldorfs
Oh Suzi, I love that you used an umlaut in a polish name!  Growing up, I was obsessed with a brand of saddle called "Stübben."  I desperately wanted a Stübben saddle, but we bought a used no-name brand for super cheap (and it ended up being a great saddle - although no umlaut!).  Because of that, umlauts have always held this certain intrigue for me.  Yet even so, I know I am digging this polish not just because of the umlaut but because it is a gorgeous super-shimmery royal purple.  The gorgeous blue shimmer (it showed up best in the first picture, with flash), makes this a stand-out shade.  A perfect 10!

Unfor-Greta-bly Blue

Unfor-Greta-bly Blue
This is another one of my favorites from the collection.  This is a gorgeous deep, sapphire blue with lots of fine shimmer (seems to be a trend in this collection!).  It went on smoothly and looks so great.

Nein! Nein! Nein! Ok Fine!
My fiance liked the name of this one best.  This is a nice neutral dark grey creme that went on well.  I can see this being the perfect addition to a warm, snuggly fall outfit with opaque tights and booties.

German-icure by OPI
Last but not least, German-icure by OPI is a deep orangey-red with dark shimmer.  Unique and mysterious.

What do you think of the Germany collection?  Are there any perfect 10's in here for you?  Which shades are you most excited to try out?

Thanks for reading, and remember to check out for more information.

Zoya Surf

Zoya Surf

Yesterday was Beach, today is Surf, the shimmery companions to the six pretty shades I featured yesterday.  All polishes can be purchased at

Beautiful frosty medium pink.  My mom loved this one.

Gorgeous glittering green (ok, it was actually shimmering, but I couldn't help the alliteration - you know I love it!).  I honestly can't decide if I like Meg or Tracie better - they are both so pretty in their own ways.  This is a really nice, dimensional shade and it dried quickly too!

Odd name, lovely shimmery blue.  That fine shimmer is so gorgeous in the sun!

Reddish-pinkish-orangish polish (I honestly can't tell which of the two this color wants to be) with ultrafine shimmer. I was hoping it would be pinker, but it is still pretty.

Again, quite an odd name.   I guess this one pairs with Arizona, the orange creme, and while I adore Arizona, I am not a huge fan of this color because I don't love redder oranges.

You already know that I ADORE Carly (I blogged all about it a few days ago!) so I won't go on and on.  Instead, look at this picture.  Isn't that shimmer awesome?!?

Thanks for reading!  Which collection do you like best: Beach or Surf?  And which shade is your favorite?

Zoya Beach

Zoya Beach

Surf will be here tomorrow!

A pretty pink/purple creme

I preferred Lara to Reagan, although Shelby was by far my avorite pink of both Beach and Surf.  Lara is a medium pink creme that is quite pretty, but it wasn't super special.

Sweet as candy pink that reminds me of Zoya Sweet and is so reminiscent of long drives on the beach, listening to (what else?) the Beach Boys.  I love it.

A fabulous bright orange!  You may have seen my post describing my new love for orange a few weeks ago, but this orange is truly the perfect orange.
(My swatch of Tracie has oddly vanished!  Check it out in Preppy Zoya).

Perfectly creme blue that reminds me of summer, birds (robin's egg blue, anyone?), and ocean water.  This blue is spot on.

Overall, this collection is a MAJOR hit and I can't get enough of it.  As usual, Zoya hit a home run.  And I could not think of a better collection name for a fun grouping of 6 cremes.  Beach is a winner in my book.  Check out to purchase!

Zoya Carly

Zoya Carly gets a post all for herself because she is SUPER pretty.  I took over 50 photos trying to catch the shimmer in this deep purple just right.  I am a bit of a purple fanatic because there are so many different shades of purple polish, in my opinion, and they can reflect light and shimmer in so many gorgeous ways.

Carly gets it all right with a rich color and super fine reddish shimmer.  Lovely!
