My life lately, in photos

Top three, all Chincoteague.
1. Wild ponies on Assateague Island; 2. The view from our campsite; 3. Emily having fun in the water.

Bottom three, all Virginia.
1. Dulles Air and Space Museum with my family and Justin's family (trivia: this is the most visited museum in the US!); 2. At Wolftrap Center for the performing arts; 3. Dining alfresco and listening to music with great people.  What could be better on a summer night?

Vera Bradley Campus Bedding Event

This morning, my sister and I woke up bright and early, met at a nearby park and ride, and drove to the nearest Vera Bradley for a new product release.  We got there at 7:40 and ended up being the first in line.  The event showcased the new dorm room products and the adorable bedding line (comforters, pillows, and a super-soft and big throw blanket that I want soo much).

The event was pretty packed, and there were giveaways every 15 minutes (but you had to be present to win).  So we checked out the products and then hung around for the giveaways.  They had cute bags of popcorn, pretty little water bottles, and cute gift bags that were PERFECT for me.

Inside each gift bag was a custom color polish (I got a pretty pink and my sister got purple, our favorite colors), SUPER cute nail applications in Indigo Pop, and a pretty nail file in Va Va Bloom.

The best part?  Kelsey won the third raffle and got this ADORABLE throw blanket (it is all folded here), and then I won the fifth raffle and got a $20 gift card!  It was a lot of fun and it was exciting not only winning something, but getting the cute gift bags.  I am currently wearing these INSANELY durable new OPI Nail Apps (it has been one week as of tomorrow and they still look great!), but when I try out the Vera Bradley ones, I'll be sure to post pictures.

If You Moust You Moust

OPI's new Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection is beyond cute.  I truly cannot get enough of If You Moust You Moust (seriously - this is rivaling Shorts Story as my favorite wear-everywhere pink).  Ironically, my mom went to get a manicure earlier this week and she picked what she described as "the prettiest shade" off of the polish rack - and it just so happened to be If You Moust You Moust.

I'm All Ears!

I'm All Ears is part of OPI's new Vintage Minnie Mouse Collection, which is a fun small collection of colors that are right up my alley.  In pinks, reds, and glittery hearts (really!), this collection is a fun tribute to America's favorite giggling, bow-wearing mouse.

I'm All Ears is a reddish pink with fine purple shimmer.  I applied two coats, and like how it looks a lot.  It is still just slightly sheer, but that would likely vanish with a third coat.  I noticed some chips on day 3, but I attribute that more to the gardening, microwave-scrubbing, fridge-cleaning, and dishes I have been doing than to the formula (especially since If You Moust You Moust, from the same collection, has been chip free every time I have worn it!).

This will be a perfect sparkly pedicure shade for year-round wear.  What do you think of bringing back the vintage Minnie for a fun new pinks and reds collection, and how does this sparkly shade rank?

Thanks for reading!

I am LOVE LOVE LOVING this combination of bright, hot pink with blue shimmer (my favorite!) and bright neon yellow.  It feels like pure summer fun.  What do you think?

University of Delaware graduation

Justin's sister, Meredith, completed her Bachelor's degree and graduated from the University of Delaware.  I wore OPI Need Sunglasses? and Zoya Robyn to compliment the University of Delaware's blue and yellow school colors.  I also wore a blue and yellow Jason Wu dress to match!

Congratulations Meredith!!

Color Popping Tips

Like I said yesterday, I am obsessed with neons lately.  I used these five fun brights to do a very colorful french manicure.  It is subtle, but still shows off lots of neon shades.

OPI Outrageous Neons

I am OBSESSED with neons shades right now.  I am currently wearing a neon french mani, I keep drooling over bright, neon clothes, and now I am super excited about OPI's new mini collection, Outrageous Neons.

OPI says about their new collection:

OPI Announces New Limited Edition Outrageous Neons, the Brand’s First Neon Lacquer

OPI launches its first neon nail lacquer with the Outrageous Neons mini pack, including four limited edition neon shades, a neon white base coat, and OPI Top Coat. The four fluorescent hues include vivid shades of yellow, orange, pink and purple. The essential step for achieving the best results is to prep nails with one coat of neon white base, followed by two coats of neon lacquer. Colors dry matte, but adding one layer of OPI Top Coat results in bright, bold color with a shiny finish.
“Outrageous Neons marks OPI’s foray into the world of neon color,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director.  “In the US, the FDA requires that all cosmetic colorants be approved, and each batch must be certified for purity. The lacquers in this set are formulated with new, FDA-approved neon pigments for a look that’s dazzlingly vibrant.”
Along with neon white base and OPI Top Coat, the four shades in the Outrageous Neons mini pack include:
Ridiculously Yellow
So yellow, it’s beyond understanding.

Formidably Orange
Brace yourself for this powerful orange.

Riotously Pink
This pink has been known to create a scene.

Seriously Purple
I really mean it…it’s really purple!

As with all OPI nail lacquers, Outrageous Neons contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde. This limited edition mini pack promotion will be available beginning July 2012 at professional salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for  $19.95 ($24.95 CAN) suggested retail for each mini pack (includes all six products).
For more information, please call 800-341-9999 or visit Follow OPI on Twitter @OPI_PRODUCTS and become a Facebook fan!

They are so cute.  I can't wait to see the yellow and pink shades in person.  The only downside?  These are minis!  I wish they came in a full size collection.  But I can't wait to get my hands on these fun little bright bottles!

What do you think about neons right now?

It is has a long time since I have had a giveaway at Babbling Brooke, so to kick off the summer, I have a great gift package that I have been putting together for the last few months with the help of many ULTA coupons and the Vera Bradley outlets in Leesburg, VA.  Thank you so much to iS Clinical for providing the Active Serum and Eye Youth Complex.
This fabulous beach-ready package is filled to the brim with fun summer essentials.  The prize package starts off with a collection of 9 great new beach-ready polishes from OPI and China Glaze.  The OPI collection starts with my current favorite: If You Moust You Moust, a beautiful pink from the Minnie Mouse collection.  I also included the perfect pedicure shade, Call Me Gwen-Ever from the new Spiderman collection, and I'm All Ears, from the Minnie Mouse collection.  The China Glaze collection includes Hang-Ten Toes, a gorgeous hot pink, Splish Splash, Sunchine Pop, Wicked Style, Aquadelic, and Gothic Lolita.

With a gorgeous new pedi in any one of these shades, you will be ready to show off your toes in a pair of Vera Bradley flip flops in Mocha Rouge (size medium, which is 7-9).  Next, there is a fun Vera Bradley tote in beautiful Very Berry Paisley and a soft, oversized Vera Bradley towel in Boysenberry that is perfect for lounging poolside or beachside.  I also threw in a fun beach read, Beachcombers, by Nancy Thayer, and one of the most important things of all: SPF 30 sunscreen from The Body Shop.

Innovation Skincare, or iC, generously donated a bottle each of Youth Eye Complex, designed to fine-tune the delicate skin around your eyes and smooth out those crows feet and wrinkles (blame the sun!), as well as a bottle of Active Serum, which refreshes and revitalizes your skin while also reducing fine lines and wrinkles.  Both products are very highly rated and have a cult following on MakeupAlley.  Finally, I included some cute Vera Bradley Mocha Rouge plates for dining in the sand during your beach excursion, as well as a cute, sparkly ring from Forever 21, some oversized Lifesavers gummy candies, and a Pineapple body lotion from Bath and Body Works.  With this beach-friendly package, all you need is a swimsuit and your sunglasses and you are ready for a day in the sun.
